Healthcare Uprising

This interview-based podcast shares stories and perspectives from TWO sides of the healthcare universe to tell a story: First, we seek to shine a light on the movers, shakers, and innovators across the healthcare industry. This includes everything from the tech and digital-based startups providing care and services to patients, to the academics and the medical researchers changing healthcare from inside our educational institutions, to the clinical, biomedical, and medical equipment organizations bringing innovation to our homes, phones and doctor’s offices. It gives a platform to those who are helping to change how healthcare is accessed, delivered, and experienced, for so many Americans. And secondly and equally as important, to truly add the human side of healthcare to this podcast, we’re weaving in real stories about real people who have had not-so-great, and maybe even some really great, experiences, on their healthcare journeys. In the end our goal, as much as possible, is to tell stories about many aspects of healthcare from a variety of vantage points, building a deeper understanding, appreciation of, and empathy for both the patients and the experiences of everyday Americans and how, hopefully, the US healthcare industry is addressing and improving it day-by-day. What’s especially unique about this podcast is that you have a healthcare industry veteran coupled with an average American to bring levity, authenticity, and a ”real” human perspective to these conversations so they don’t get too clinical, too in the weeds or complex that you have no idea what we’re talking about. This podcast is for everyone who cares about healthcare. Also available in video format on YouTube and Patreon!

Thanks to innovative companies like Herafertility, they’re bringing new products straight into our homes. Men’s fertility testing, also known as sperm testing, no longer has to happen at a fertility clinic, eliminating any potential awkwardness that comes with it. Just as in-home testing has expanded across various health areas, sperm testing is now part of the mix. But it goes beyond just fertility—by checking biomarkers and identifying other potential health issues, it provides a valuable baseline for overall health. This aligns with the growing emphasis on value-based care, allowing individuals to be proactive about their health and address concerns before they become bigger issues. Historically men aren’t exactly on top of their health, so this is one simple way to change that behavior.

Don’t read a healthcare industry vet by their cover. Even the most educated, connected and experience healthcare industry professionals are still baffled and overwhelmed when navigating their own personal healthcare scares and journeys.
In this episode, Stacey Meade shares the surprising, scary, and challenging tale, and it is indeed a tale, of her husband’s seemingly unknown serious and abrupt medical condition and the twists and turns they experienced in finding answers to get him back to health. But equally important to the story is the incredible doctors they encountered in the process and the pricelessness of flexibility and support from her employer.

Join us for our first ever roundtable discussion. For this episode we bring back some guests from previous ketamine therapy episodes to collectively discuss ketamine therapy, and create a more complete understanding of what it means to have access to and benefit from this treatment. Alternative mental health therapies are clearly on the rise, with growing curiosity and interest. Organizations like Enthea are expanding access through employers, while providers like Dr. Casey are stepping up to offer these treatments safely. Ketamine ambassadors like Leigh play a crucial role in normalizing and advancing ketamine as a truly viable—perhaps even more effective than traditional pharmaceuticals—option for addressing mental health challenges such as depression, suicide, and PTSD.
